17:30The International Forum on Alliances for the Right to Abortion: Activism for Transforming Healthcare Systems and Community Spaces-
The International Forum on Alliances for the Right to Abortion: Activism for Transforming Healthcare Systems and Community Spaces, will take place onOctober 1 in Barcelona. Organized by the Quiero Abortar, a program of the L’Associació pels Drets Sexuals i Reproductius, this event will be a unique opportunity to come together, share experiences, and collectively reflect on the many forms of activism that make access to abortion possible. Healthcare professionals, community activists, researchers, legal experts, organizations, and public policy leaders will gather to exchange lessons learned, discuss challenges, and explore future strategies.
We aim to create a meeting space for more than 200 activists from around the world. The forum will feature 20 speakers from 10 countries, with simultaneous interpretation available in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
Throughout the day, we will explore four key themes:
- Activism within healthcare systems
- Community-based activism and feminist accompaniment networks
- Research and knowledge production as tools for change
- Social, legal, and political mobilization
The forum will be held as a pre-conference event to the FIAPAC International Conference (the International Federation of Abortion and ContraceptionProfessionals), which will also take place in Barcelona. It aims to strengthen alliances among the diverse actors working to advance and safeguard sexual and reproductive rights.
Practical information: Registration is free but requires prior sign-up (places are limited). Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
