Dr Jana Maeffert is a gynaecologist and works in Berlin (https://praxisnova-berlin.de/). She has been campaigning for improved access to abortion for more than 15 years. She is also a board member of Doctors for choice Germany (https://doctorsforchoice.de/). Together with the team at the Family Planning Centre Berlin, she developed the telemedicine project ‘abortion-at-home’ during the Covid-19 pandemic (https://schwangerschaftsabbruch-zuhause.de/). In 2016, she received the Fiapac/Exelgyn grant for the development of the ‘medabb’ app, which supports women undergoing a medical abortion. The app has been redesigned 2024 and is now available as ‘alli’ (https://alli-app.com/).
